Prior to joining SJINML, she was a research assistant with the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum, where she assisted in the sorting, preserving, curating and cataloguing of the crustacean specimens, and assisted/lead specimen collection field trips (local and overseas).

Research Interests

  • Study of brachyuran crab (true crab) taxonomy (discovery and description of new species, alpha and beta taxonomy, etc.) 
  • Faunistic composition of Southeast Asia mangroves and the deep-sea brachyuran crabs 
  • Studying the role of ultrastructure in mangrove crabs camouflage using scanning electron microscopy (SEM)
  • Molecular phylogenetic of Epialtidae MacLeay, 1838
  • Crustacean larval development
