LABORATORY EQUIPMENT
uv-vis spectrophotometer
The UV-vis spectrophotometer is an analytical instrument used to study the amount or concentration of different samples based on the amount of light absorbed in the ultraviolet and visible light region. Based on Beer Lambert’s Law, the absorbance of a coloured solution is directly correlated to its concentration.
What kind of research is applicable / suitable for this equipment?
- Extrapolating and calculating the concentration of unknown coloured samples
- can be used in a wide variety of applications such as the quantification of nucleic acids, nutrient samples, chlorophyll count as well as measuring microalgae cultures.
Any chargeable costs for equipment usage?
Yes, please approach Lab Manager or search the handbook (Section A6 – Schedule of rates for specialist facilities) for more details.
